Position: Translation Officer

Since 2004, Health Alliance International (HAI) has been working with the government of Timor- Leste to implement programs to strengthen maternal, and newborn health services. The  overarching goal of the program is to improve health and reduce mortality and morbidity for mothers and their infants in Timor-Leste thus contributing to the MDG goals four and five. HAI supports a variety of activities in the districts of Liquica, Aileu, Manufahi, Ainaro, and Dili.
The Translation Officer will work across the Health Alliance International team to support  translation and interpretation (both oral and written) in the languages of Tetun, English and  Bahasa. The Coordinator will assist with all translation and interpretation including for meetings,
documents, and other translation support as required.

Job summary:

Human Resource Administrator under the leadership of the Senior Administration Manager the Human Resources Administrator will work across the Health Alliance International team to support all systems, policies, human resource development, and human resource processes.  The Administrator will be responsible for recruitment, employment contracts, performance review systems, and human resource policies,

 

Under the leadership of the Senior Administration Manager and in coordination with other HAI team responsible for the following:

Recruitment:

  1. Drive and manage full lifecycle recruitment process for Timor-Leste program; including but not limited to, sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews and reference checking.
  2. Post job openings using online national / regional recruitment resources.
  3. Work closely with hiring managers to define job descriptions, identify required skill competencies and requirements.
  4. Assist in the review of applications by ensuring standardized processes to screen and select the best candidates.
  5. Ensure that interviews and documentation are in compliance with legal requirements and guidelines.
  6. Assist in maintaining all application materials and all forms during the recruitment process (e.g. application forms, candidate evaluation forms, etc), and be able to produce documents to the hiring committee upon request.
  7. Respond to initial inquiries concerning employment opportunities. Provide information on job opportunities to potential candidates and guidance to eventual applicants.

The Mobile Moms project will pilot the use of mobile phone technology to increase the likelihood that pregnant women will adopt behaviors that promote a healthy, full term delivery and seek routine assistance from a midwife for ANC, at birth and for the newborn.  A large component of the Mobile Moms project is the development of an SMS based information system that facilitates two-way communication between a mid-wife and her patients. Other components of the program are training and monitoring for a cadre of Community Health Workers engaged in home visits to expectant mothers and building capacity of Ministry of Health midwives in the delivering of basic emergency obstetric care.

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer is a member of the M&E Team at HAI, providing essential support for data collection, analysis, and reporting.  S/he is responsible for maintaining up-to-date, accurate records of HAI’s activities, as well as collecting district-level health service data and maintaining an updated database of health indicators used for monitoring and evaluating HAI programs.  S/he will also provide assistance to any capacity building efforts undertaken by the M&E Team, such as district-level trainings, mentoring opportunities, or health staff meetings, and assist HAI staff to deliver regular written and oral reports to the MOH, district partners, and donors.

  • Liaison with the Head Office in Seattle USA
