Roads for Development Program (R4D)
Translator (1 position)
Duty Station: Dili
Duration: Initially from 18 May to 31 December 2015
R4D is the Government of Timor Leste’s leading national Rural Roads Development and Capacity Building Program (March 2012 – March 2016), implemented through the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communication, with financial assistance from Australian Aid and technical assistance from the ILO.
R4D has a vacancy for a full-time translator under UN General Service category contract (scale GS-6). The translator will support the R4D Technical Assistance team in the translation of various documents, procedures, manuals, correspondence and other materials in three languages: Tetun, English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Applicants should be Timorese nationals with a relevant universitydegree and with at least 5 years of relevant working experience in both verbal and written translation tasks inTetun, English and Bahasa Indonesia. Knowledge of Portugese is considered an advantage. A degree and/or diploma as certified Translator is highly preferable. Experience in translations for technical cooperation projects in the field of infrastructure and knowledge of technical (engineering) vocabulary is highly desirable. Applicants require a very good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint and should have a substantial experience in creating and editing documents (including layout, language checks and general formatting).
