English: Learning Resource Development Centre

SDRA officialy became an independent training and resource development centre on 4th July 2011 to respond to the needs of TVET training providers in implementing national qualifications for the first time in Timor Leste.  The SDRA team was developed at the request of the Government body, SEPFOPE. The SDRA team reports directly to DNAFOP within SEPFOPE and receives funding through the AusAid funded ILO YEPP Program. SDRA also liaises very closely with INDMO (National Standards Authority).  Most of the current staff has been involved in vocational training programs and teacher training programs through a now completed Norwegian Refugee Council Education Program.

 

SDRA has been registered to the Ministry of Justice to gain official legal status. In other hand SDRA also has been registered in DNAFOP as a National Learning Centre and are also accredited by INDMO to deliver National Certificate in Training and Cert. III in Training and Assessment (Trainer pedagogic qualification). SDRA is also in the process of developing a board and management team.

 

 

Mission: To provide support for training providers in the implementation of national qualifications

 

Objectives

–       To develop learning materials for the implementation of national qualifications

–       To provide professional development and support for training providers

–       To provide support for and respond to the needs of SEPFOPE and the realization of the TVET plan

–       To develop and implement on-site training/ professional development programs for primary teachers

 

Activities

–       Design learning materials

–       Design and present workshops for training providers

–       Provide advice for training providers

–       Provide advice to SEPFOPE and INDMO regarding implementation of qualifications

–       Providing professional development of primary teachers

 

Long Term plans

 

In the next five years SDRA wish to achieve the following:-

  • Provide professional learning resources to support the introduction of national qualifications in Timor Leste: Levels I – IV
  • Provide professional development and learning opportunities for vocational training providers in Timor Leste
  • Provide professional development and learning opportunities for primary teachers in Timor Leste
  • Provide advice and support to SEPFOPE and INDMO in the development and implementation of TVET in Timor Leste
  • Provision on-site mentoring and support to training providers
  • Contribute to the development of National qualifications in Timor Leste
  • Build strong networks and links with industry and training providers both in Timor Leste and Internationally
  • Develop pedagogical and technical skills for the implementation of market driven TVET in Timor Leste

 

Current Priorities:

 

SDRA is a relatively new organisation and considers its current priorities to include:-

 

  • Technical advice and support required for the development of further training resources (Construction, automotive, hospitality and tourism, agriculture, administration and finance, IT)
  • Technical support for internal administration and finance systems
  • Development of resources design skills for staff
  • Development of English language skills to assist in the accessing of English based print resources
  • Continued development of professional development and training activities for primary teachers
