Position Announcement

The United States Peace Corps program in Timor-Leste seeks a qualified and motivated candidate for the following full-time position: Information Technology Specialist (ITS)
The United Peace Corps is a non-political, non-religious organization, which will bring American Volunteers to Timor-Leste to be assigned to Districts to work with communities on development projects. The Peace Corps is an agency of the United States Government and was founded by President John F. Kennedy in 1961. General information about Peace Corps can be found on http://www.peacecorps.gov.
The ITS will be responsible for providing IT support Peace Corps Timor-Leste’s staff & managing the IT infrastructure for the PC Office and the different Training Events to ensure that the computer logistics run smoothly.

Job Description
 Provides first-tier computer and network support for an overseas office.
 Provides formal or informal IT training to staff who have varying degrees of technical proficiency.
 Ensures that all IT related needs are met while adhering to ITS/Peace Corps guidelines and policies.
 Identifies computer and system problems at post and communicates them to the PC Headquarters ITS group for reporting and problem solving.
 Independently installs hardware, software and computers for incoming staff
 Responsible for troubleshooting server problems and minimizing downtime for the users.
 Serves as the point of contact for issues concerning Post’s Internet Service Provider.
 Maintains ITS standard back-up system for mission-critical data.
 Performs the daily server checklist to ensure proper operation of the server and network.
 Identifies and secures local IT resources to meet Post’s needs.
 Frequently reassesses the IT configurations and settings on staff and volunteer workstations to
ensure that they meet ITS standards.
 Maintains an up-to-date IT inventory and software license database and assists ITS in procurement decisions.

Mandatory Qualifications
 University degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or Information Systems Management
 Language: Level 4 (fluent) in speaking, reading, writing and understanding English and Tetum is required.is also desired.
 At least two years of experience in supporting/troubleshooting Windows computer systems within an office environment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 Demonstrated experience with standard MS Server technologies, Small Business Server, Windows Professional, MS Exchange, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Access.
 Demonstrated experience with Local Area Networks/Wide Area Networks, including experience installing and troubleshooting Internet connectivity.
 Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting NT server and/or MS Exchange.
 Completion of training resulting in degrees and/or certificates in IT systems management and/or any related IT skills.
 Project development with SQL, webpage development & MS
